I thought it would be useful for you to know that I have completed the rewrites, drafts, formatting etc. and am now in discussions with a POD publisher with excellent distribution channels.

I now have a couple of weeks to prove to them that they should list my book although I think it really comes down to me paying them some money.

Obviously I will record my experiences with this process here to help you through it.

I registered last night and had an email from them today which I have answered.  Essentially what they wanted to know is what the book is about, has it been professionally proof read, does it have images in it, did I want colour or black and white print, what did I want for a cover and what is my budget.

All sensible things to ask and I hope I have responded in a useful manner.

By the way POD stands for Print On Demand.  The way this works is you provide them with your book in digital format.  When they get an order they print your book and ship it but they don’t keep any copies of your book pre-printed.

There are many POD companies available to you and they have a range of services to offer.  The cost also varies widely (or perhaps wildly) and can get quite expensive.

I have decided that I’m going to do this a cheaply as I can.  I’m aiming for the $300 package which is pretty bare bones.

I am certain there will be upsells during this process and there is one I may grab but we’ll see.
