Can an iPad help you sell more books?

There has been a lot of hype around the Apple iPad, some of it justified, some of it not.
Since all the iPhone apps can run on the iPad, and there are thousands of those, and there will be a lot of apps written specifically for the iPad there is a very good chance that you’ll be able to write your new book on the iPad itself.
You can do your research, make your notes, create the personas, create a mind map (if you do that), story board your book (if you do that) and all the other things that go into just getting to the starting gate of writing your book.
And then you can actually write your book. What this means for you is that you are not restricted in any way as to the location you choose for writing. I expect that travel writers in particular will love this tool, as will travelling sales people and others who are mobile and need to at the very least take notes, fill in forms, place orders remotely etc.
But there is another aspect to this. You will be able to convert your new book to PDF and upload your new book to Bearly Books (or your own website), create the sales pages, set the price and start getting traffic to the page and sales immediately.
You customers, with the iPad, can buy your book and download it to their iPad for reading now or later.
Now how good is that? For some other ideas have a look at this post about what Penguin are experimenting with. In particular check the video at the bottom of the post.
Any other ideas? Let me know.
