I’ve just been reading the blog postings of Bruce Frankel on the Penguin USA website.  He has written a books about inspiring people who have re-invented themselves late in life.  The book is called “What Shall I do with the Rest of my Life?”.  I don’t have it so I can’t review it but you should at least read his blog posts.

The second post, titled Getting it Done is about the art of completing the writing you are doing.  I see this as being very relevant to me and probably to you as well.  Don’t forget to read the comments.

In the third post Bruce talks about how the people became friends.  In some ways this is what you need to do when you develop your personas for the characters you are witing about.  They need to come alive for you to be able to write about them convincingly.  A short post but interesting, titled Oh what a paradise that would be.

The final post for the week, titled The story continues demonstrates that even though the book has finished the lives and achievements of the people in it do not.  I think that this is an inspiring series of posts and I must buy the book and have a read.

On a slightly different but still relevant subject, the Penguin UK Blog has this rather useful comment, Keep doing what you’ve always done and you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got. There is a comment about this being the definition of insanity but that’s not quite correct.  The definition of insanity is keeping on doing the same things expecting a different result which clearly isn’t the same thing.  Close though.
